PROJECT BACKGROUND - The Agricultural Management Institute (AMI)
The AMI provides funding for projects to develop business management tools,
products, information, resources and training for farm families, farm managers
and farm business advisors.
The strategic priorities of the Agricultural Management Institute are to:
- raise the profile and adoption of business management best practices in
the Ontario agriculture industry.
- provide Ontario farmers and their advisors with the business management
and risk management tools, products, information, resources and training
they need to enhance decision-making and farm profitability.
- develop and extend business management tools, products, information and
resources through partnerships with producer groups, research institutions
and the financial services sector.
- ensure that business management tools, products, information, resources
and training developed within the AMI, and which have applicability beyond
the province, and are shared in other jurisdictions.
AMI projects are reviewed by a 12-member Advisory Panel. Projects fall into
one or more of the five key areas of focus: Benchmarking and Business Management
Best Practices; Management of Business Risk; Business Succession Planning and
New Entrants; Human Resources Development; and Training, Innovation and Market
Opportunities.
Funding for the AMI is provided in part by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs under the Agricultural
Policy Framework, an agreement among federal, provincial and territorial
governments to make Canada’s agricultural sector a world leader in science and
innovation.
The Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) which administers the AMI, is a
non-profit coalition group of 71 Ontario agricultural, agri-food and rural
organizations. Additional information about the AAC and AMI can be found under
www.adaptcouncil.org.
PROJECT INFORMATION
Introduction:
One of the responsibilities of AMI is to help promote the program and champion
farm business management in Ontario. In 2007-2008 the AMI program initiated a
communications campaign entitled “Take A New Approach”. Activities included the
development of a website, public notices, advertorials and communication kits.
In building on the success of the “Take A New Approach” campaign the
communications efforts must continue to maintain momentum and guide producers
towards the best resources available in Ontario.
Communications professionals/consultants are invited to submit proposals for the
provision of professional services according to the specifications and
conditions set out in this Request for Proposals.
