Project Objectives:
• To help Ontario’s agricultural and agri-food industry attract top-caliber
speakers to industry conferences, annual meetings and work-shop symposiums by
sharing the costs of keynote speakers. Speakers should be focused on either
Advancing the Policy Dialogue, or Market and Trend Studies which are the Pillar
3 priorities.
• To help Ontario’s agricultural and agri-food industry organize and implement
successful industry conferences and meetings by providing partial funding
towards their events. A component of the event should be focused on Advancing
the Policy Dialogue, or Market and Trend Studies which are the Pillar 3
priorities.
Eligibility:
• The applicant must demonstrate the public benefit to the Ontario agriculture
and agri-food sector.
• The applicant must demonstrate how the speaker and/ or the event will advance
the sector by either Advancing the Policy Dialogue, or by Market and Trend
Studies.
• Applicants can be corporations, cooperatives, marketing boards, partnerships,
and agriculture and industry associations, etc.
• Funding will not be provided for on-going activities such as annual meetings,
trade shows, conferences unless exceptional benefit and need can be clearly
demonstrated.
Funding Levels:
CanAdvance support will be considered a grant and will be payable upon
submission of corresponding receipts and a final report.
• Costs may include those expenses associated with organizing and implementing a
conference, speaker fees, transportation, accommodations, etc.
• Sponsorship for more than one speaker at a single event will be considered if
warranted. Note: CanAdvance funding for government employees is limited to
out-of-pocket travel expenses.
• The maximum grant amount will be restricted to $5,000. The level of support
may be exceeded, if exceptional benefit and need can be demonstrated.
• Funding may not exceed 100% of eligible project costs.
Application Process:
1. The applicant should submit a request in writing to the attention of AAC’s
Communications Manager. The applicant is to provide the AAC with as much
information as possible relating to the request. (Objective of the event /
presentation, target audience, agenda, reach, qualifications of the speaker,
budget etc.)
2. AAC’s staff will perform due diligence on each CanAdvance Speaker Investment
Initiative request.
3. The AAC Marketing & Communications Committee will make funding decisions
based on the merits of requests.
4. Applicants will be informed in writing of the decision made by the AAC.
5. Successful applicants will enter in an agreement with the AAC outlining the
project terms and conditions, and the manner and timing of funding. A final
report upon completion of the project is also required by the AAC.
Obligations of Applicant:
The applicant agrees to provide the AAC with public acknowledgement of its
funding support. This would include, but is not limited to, the inclusion of
logos and AAC reference on promotional materials (e.g. conference program,
advertisements and AAC signage on the speaker’s podium during the sponsored
presenter’s address). The letter of offer will specify the visibility and
recognition requirements for the AAC and AAFC.
