| Agricultural Adaptation Council to Relocate to New AgriCentre - October 6, 2004 |
(Guelph, ON) - Exciting changes are ahead in the upcoming year for the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) with the announcement that they will be re-locating in September 2005 to the new Ontario AgriCentre to be built in Guelph.
The AAC office will be adjacent to the ACC Farmers’ Financial office on the main floor of the three-story building. The AAC and ACC Farmers’ Financial will share common workspace, kitchen and boardroom facilities with separate and secure entry points for each organization. The AAC and ACC Farmers’ Financial have a common interest in identifying and capturing operating efficiencies gained by working in a common area.
“The AAC has always been an extremely effective administrator of funding to support the Ontario agriculture and agri-food industry,” says Bob Bedggood, AAC Chair. “By sharing common space and resources with ACC Farmers’ Financial, the AAC will continue to fulfil the goal of the organization in a cost-effective manner that benefits the entire industry, while strengthening synergies with an agricultural and agri-food based financial organization.”
The AgriCentre will also be located in close proximity to the Regional Office of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF) both of which the AAC has a strong working relationship.
“The Ontario AgriCentre provides an excellent opportunity for the AAC to co-locate with some of our member organizations, allowing the AAC to enhance opportunities for identification of industry issues and needs,” says Bedggood. “The proximity to AAFC and OMAF will allow greater interaction with industry experts, ultimately strengthening the delivery of the AAC’s programs.”
The Ontario AgriCentre development is being led by Peter Hannam and J. Lammer Developments Ltd. Hannam came up with the idea to construct an office building in Guelph to provide a high profile, professional home for agriculture. “Developing this centre to house and serve Ontario agriculture and agri-food industry is an exciting challenge that will strive to bring unity and strength to the industry,” says Hannam.
The AAC is a non-profit coalition of 58 agricultural, agri-business and rural organizations dedicated to providing financial resources to assist Ontario’s agri-food sector and rural communities to remain competitive, grow and maintain their economic strength. The AAC receives the majority of its funding from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. To learn more about the AAC please visit our Web site at
