Careers in Agri Business invests in future of agriculture
NEWS RELEASE For immediate release May 17, 2002 Guelph, ON -

Youth are an integral part of a progressive agricultural industry and important to ensuring the future of agriculture says Eric Kirk, AAC Board Director, during his address at the launch of Careers in Agri Business today at the Seaforth AgriPlex in Seaforth, Ontario.

Careers in Agri Business is a new resource designed to meet the curriculum expectations for students in grades 10-12 in Career Studies, Business Education and Family Studies. Funding was provided by the Agricultural Adaptation Council and the Ontario Agri Business Association, and helped develop Teacher's Guides, a 16-minute video and Career Profile Cards that focused on jobs in the fertilizer, grain and feed industries.

Careers in Agri-Business creates an overall awareness of the fertilizer, grain and feed industry as an important sector and employer within the agri-food system. The program is intended to help students making educational and career decisions.

The AAC is a non-profit coalition of 54 agricultural, agri-business and rural organizations working together to support Ontario’s agricultural sector and rural communities. The Council promotes partnerships and projects, such as this one, that ensure the long-term competitiveness for the agri-food sector. The AAC receives its funding through Ontario’s share of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Canadian Adaptation Rural Development Fund.
