Canadvance Program
The CanAdvance program is now closed and we are no longer accepting applications.

The CanAdvance program was established in 2005 under Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) Program and administered by the Agricultural Adaptation Council.

With 305 successful innovative projects to its credit and an investment of $38.5 million in Ontario’s agriculture and agri-food industry in five years, CanAdvance, the AAC’s flagship program came to a close in the fall of 2009.

The successor, the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP) was launched in the winter of 2009 and offers many funding opportunities for the agriculture and agri-food sector.

CanAdvance provided funding for projects that assisted the industry to respond to emerging issues, share information to advance the sector, and to capture market opportunities.

The flexibility of the program allowed the AAC to respond very quickly to industry issues. The AAC demonstrated this flexibility by delivering specialized Calls for Proposals within the CanAdvance program to address focused issues based on an identified industry need under the Growing Capacity Initiative (GCI) and the Food and Beverage Industry Innovation (FBII) Fund.

The collective outcome/multi-council component of the CanAdvance program developed new partnerships and supported collaboration among organizations across Canada, who faced similar issues and opportunities. The increased communication among these organizations ultimately reduced the duplication of funding initiatives and started a new era of cooperation and information sharing.
