A Little History The Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) is a non-profit coalition of
66
Ontario agricultural, agri-food and rural organizations. The diverse
membership of the AAC represents the agriculture and agri-food industry
both regionally and by sector.
The AAC
was established by leaders from the agriculture and agri-food sector in
1995 to allocate federal and provincial government funding to support
new and innovative projects to benefit the sector.
The AAC continues to
seek out and administer funding that fosters long-term growth,
self-reliance, profitability, viability and employment opportunities.

Mission Statement
To source and effectively deliver funds on behalf of our agriculture and
agri-business clients.
Vision
To continue to
be valued as a catalyst for innovation, adaptation, and advancement for
a profitable and sustainable agriculture and agri-business industry.
Mandate
The mandate of the AAC is to:
1.
Provide accountability to our members, applicants and
funding partners.
2.
Partner and collaborate with other stakeholders and
organizations to strengthen our impact.
3.
Encourage partnerships within the agriculture and agri-business industry
and between project applicants which may lead to effective and
affordable solutions to challenges.
4.
Strengthen the agriculture and agri-business industry by
funding projects and supporting initiatives which will ensure the sector
has access to the leading edge information, tools and skills required to
put inventive practices and technologies to work and to take advantage
of potential opportunities.
5.
Actively engage in two-way communication with our
members, applicants, client groups and funding partners regarding our
resources and services.

Funding
The
AAC is proud to serve as an industry-led delivery partner for funds
provided by the federal and provincial governments.
The
projects which are supported financially assist the industry in
general to innovate, advance and improve profitability within a
changing and diverse economy. All funding decisions are made by the
18-member Board of Directors representing various agriculture and
agri-business sectors.
Membership
Each AAC member organization is represented on the AAC Board of
Directors through their sector (e.g. horticulture, red meats, agri-food
processing, etc.) by an elected representative. Membership to the
Council is $150/year and allows both participation in nominations or
the opportunity to be nominated to the AAC Board of Directors.
The AAC membership base consists of organizations whose members are
primary producers or related to the rural, agri-food, agribusiness
or agri-processing sector.
